We’re back again with the new feature to my blog and newsletter—ADHD Book Reviews!

With so many books out there on ADHD, it can be overwhelming to know which ones are actually helpful (and which will just gather dust on your nightstand). I’ll be reviewing books that offer real insights, practical strategies, and maybe even a few laughs—so you can find the ones that truly speak to you. Let’s dive into the first review!

Charlie, Are You Daydreaming Again? — A Whimsical and Wise ADHD Adventure
As an ADHD coach who works with both adults and parents of children with ADHD, I’m always on the lookout for books that not only understand the ADHD experience but communicate it with empathy, creativity, and actionable strategies.

Charlie, Are You Daydreaming Again? by Stefanie Heyden and Fabian Grolimund does just that—and more.
Although this book is likely intended for children ages 9–13, I can say confidently as an adult reader (without ADHD!) that it’s a delight at any age. With its endearing characters, vivid illustrations, and spot-on storytelling, this book will resonate with kids (and grown-ups) from 6 to 99.

Charlie, a sweet and distractible little rabbit, offers a refreshingly realistic depiction of what it’s like to live with ADHD. We follow her as she drifts off in class, loses track of what she’s supposed to be doing, and struggles to keep up with routines that come easily to her peers. These scenes are not only relatable but also gently affirming—reminding readers that Charlie isn’t lazy or careless; her brain just works differently.

What makes this book especially helpful is that it doesn’t stop at describing the challenges—it provides hopeful, kid-friendly tools for navigating them. As Charlie experiments with strategies like visual reminders, playful memory tricks, and organizing her things in simple, fun ways, young readers are given practical solutions they can try themselves. These techniques are woven naturally into the story, so they feel empowering rather than clinical.
As a coach, I especially appreciate how the book blends emotional validation with real-world support. Charlie’s frustrations are met with compassion, not criticism, and her strengths—like creativity, sensitivity, and perseverance—shine through. The story creates a foundation for meaningful conversations between children and the adults who support them, whether that’s a parent, teacher, or coach.

In short, Charlie, Are You Daydreaming Again? is more than a book—it’s a beautifully illustrated, affirming, and practical guide to life with ADHD. Whether you’re a parent, teacher, coach, or a young reader yourself, Charlie’s story will leave you feeling seen, understood, and inspired.
